How to Date Online and Have Fun Doing It!
I’ve met a lot of people that find online dating taboo. The funny thing is that these very same people never go out and tend to be very single. If you think about it, they’re the perfect candidate for online dating.
In the past dating, online was scary and a little creepy because very few people knew about online dating. Now there are 40 million people online dating according to match.com, your odds of meeting the right person just went up. Before you sign up on your great adventure, here are some online dating tips that ensure you have a FUN experience.
Tip #1: Manage Expectations – Just because you meet someone on a dating site doesn’t necessarily mean they’re looking for a relationship. Some men and women automatically think that the person they’re emailing is ready for something serious. Manage your expectations and don’t take things too seriously (you haven’t even met), find out if they are on the same page as you. It’s up to you to ask the right questions and determine by PAYING ATTENTION to their response!
Tip #2 – Don’t Give Up – A few bad dates doesn’t mean you have to give up on online dating. Just because you watch one bad movie, it doesn’t mean every movie after that will be horrible. I met my husband after 3 really bad dates and I almost canceled on him. With the advice of a very close friend I didn’t cancel and now I have meant my soul mate. Remember sometimes you’ll kiss a lot of frogs until you meet the right person.
Tip #3 – Be Your Positive Self – It’s important to manage the phrase “be yourself.” Some people may interpret that phrase as a pass to throw up negative stories from their past relationships. It might be a major turn off and have your date running out the door running faster than you know it! Remember you barely know this person, and you are in the discovery phase of casually getting to know each other. Keep the conversation positive and light in the initial phase of dating.
