How to Date Yourself: A Guide to Self-Love
When was the last time you had some solo time? No, not Netflix and chill solo time (although that can be nice too). I mean real quality, uninterrupted me-time. Chances are, it’s been a while. And that’s okay!
We’re all busy people, and it’s hard to find the time to focus on ourselves. But what if I told you that date night doesn’t always have to involve another person? You can date yourself.
Going on a date with yourself can be a great way to recharge and connect with your own needs and desires. It can be easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life and forget to nurture your own relationship with yourself.
Taking some time out for yourself can help you reset and remember what you need and want in life. And can act as a confidence booster as well. Here are a few tips on how to go on a date with yourself.
First, schedule some time for yourself and make it a priority. This can be hard to do if you have a busy schedule, but it’s essential to set aside some time each week (or even each day) just for you.
Self-care isn’t just about massages and getting your hair done. It’s about the mental game as well. Turn off your phone, disconnect from social media, and really focus on being present with yourself with these solo date ideas.
Here are some “mental game me time” activities:
- Guided meditation
- Gratitude journaling
- Make a love vision board
- Give yourself five compliments in the mirror

Second, choose some activities you can do by yourself that allow you to relax and change your environment. This could be something as simple as:
- Going for a nature walk
- Taking a yoga class
- Enjoy a meal at your favorite restaurant.
- Declutter a room in your home
Finally, what is inside will show up outside. Doing something for other people will make you feel good inside. So take some time to do something kind for others.
- Make a nice card for a friend
- Craft a gift for a neighbor
- Plan a future fun day out with your family
- Paint a picture of a thoughtful moment for someone else
