Top 5 Places to Meet Like-Minded Singles the Old-Fashioned Way
As a Master Certified Relationship Coach, my mission is to help singles find their “forever” relationship. To do this, it often involves not only working to improve a single’s mindset and dating skills but also help them to get a better understanding of where are the best places they can go to meet that special someone.
I know from my own personal dating experience that going out into the dating world can be tough, if not annoying at times, even for the most social of daters.
Online dating can be a low impact alternative, but it is just one of the many avenues good daters choose to date. However, we all can agree that going out into the world to interact in-person with a bigger dating pool, not only is a great way to meet someone, it can be fun too!
But first it starts with knowing where to go. I work with singles all over the world, but the majority of singles I work with are from Los Angeles and in Las Vegas. So, here’s my Top 5 Places to Meet Like-Minded Singles the Old-Fashioned Way… In Person.
Live Event Venues:
I am not talking about bars here, rather places that specialize in live theater and the live experience. Places like the Smith Center in Las Vegas or the Pantages Theater in LA, which offer up musicals, plays, music, comedy acts, and even speaking engagements that are safe havens for professional singles like you.
The Smith Center even offers a special offer for young professionals to join a small group and socialize on property. There are also cool, more intimate venues like the Cockroach Theater in Las Vegas or The Pacific Theater in Venice that put on fun, quirky plays within a very social atmosphere. I’m sure you can find your local venue that puts on similar events.
Membership Communities:
There is no better way to connect with like-minded partners than by finding communities that stimulate your mind as well as offer social exchanges. In Los Angeles, there are two amazing membership organizations that represent this same mission.
A membership organization like The Distinguished Speaker Series, www.speakersla.com, which from October to May puts on thought-provoking events, center-pieced by talks from world leaders, entertainers, and professional athletes is a great example of a place to step out of your typical single’s scene. Events like this one not only come with great takeaways in life, but also offer a social component in terms of igniting inspiring conversations between attendees — friends and strangers alike.
IVY: The Social University is also a membership organization that focuses on creating inspiration in the world. The events are all created to “build the world’s most impactful community across 50 global cities, and unite everyone who is passionate about creating a better world.” The IVY is a great place to meet like-minded singles and a place to foster amazing relationships and friendships, all while growing your mind.
Neighborhood Pet Parks:
I think pets are not only great for the soul; they are great for daters too. Going to a dog park or a pet event with other pet appropriate owners can offer a friendly, safe environment to interact with singles. These locales promote no-pressure conversations and if you don’t have a pet, don’t fret, maybe attend with a friend or family member.
Single’s Monthly Mixers:
Online dating may be taking over the dating world, but the good old single’s mixer has long been a tried and true way to meet other quality singles. Take a look at Love FrogKisser, who offers curated singles events and mixers that double up as heart-centered volunteer events, singles events, virtual dating events, or just simply a fun trivia night. Love FrogKisser connects you to a singles community that is fun, cultured, and quality. All you have to do is show up to mingle. If you’re in or visiting the Las Vegas, Texas, or Tennessee area, I would definitely be checking out their events.
Fun Runs and Charity Walks:
Ok, the idea of a morning run may not sound like fun to some of you, but make no mistake singles flock to these events. There’s a large social component to them with less mingling pressure than nighttime events. Many of them have a “giving back” or themed component that just adds to the “let’s chat” environment. In Las Vegas, runs like Resolution Run and The Happy Hour Run are just a few of the many cool ones that take place throughout the year.
I hope you got some valuable tips to begin putting yourself out there in the dating world. Remember, no matter where you live, you can get out of the house right now and connect to events that introduce you to like-minded communities.
