Yes. Facebook Dating is a Thing and It Will Impact your Love Life!
Since Facebook first launched in February of 2004, it has literally taken the social network world by storm with over 2 billion users to date.
So it’s really not a big surprise that CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently announced that he’s taking Facebook into the digital dating game. He will bring to the marketplace a new dating platform that will allow fellow Facebookers to opt-in to a new app where they can connect with, and hopefully find, that special someone.
According to Mr. Zuckerberg this new app is for the serious single who is looking for a long-term commitment, rather than the quick hook up.
Obviously, it’s hard to bet against anything Facebook does, even with their recent data breach catastrophe still a hot button issue. The question I, and everyone else who works in the dating space must to ask is, will this be a dating game changer or just one of the endless array of modern dating avenues?
From my standpoint, it really doesn’t matter if Facebook blows past Match.com or Tinder or Bumble and does something new and innovative.
That’s because there’s no bad way to meet anyone these days, the ends justify the means in every case. The point is, you meet someone, fall in love and marry your forever partner, do you really care on which website you found them?
That being said, I feel Facebook does have some advantages that most other dating sites do not that may help the masses increase their chances for dating success a little.
According to Facebook they will use a unique algorithm to match you with potential dates, based on dating preferences, things in common, and mutual friends.
If this algorithm works, it could mean more and possibly better connections for those who use it. Still Tinder, eHarmony and Match.com also use algorithms to match singles and by no means does everyone who signs up with them find love there.
So let’s just say I am cautiously optimistic about the fact this new app will change the dating landscape in any way, but overall I am excited about the prospect of people getting reinvigorated with the dating process by trying something new.
No matter what happens, though, Facebook entering the dating world means that you are going to have a brand new way to connect with other singles if you chose to do so. And like everything in your dating life, it is your choice how successful it will be for you.
The important thing to remember is that good dating is a personal journey where you come to the table with the best you you can be.
No website, no app, no friend is going to find you love if you do not have the right tools and the right mindset to date properly. That is why Conscious Dating is so important.
That means as we get closer to Facebook’s dating app launch, take the time to arm yourself with the tools you need to find and secure your forever relationship.
Maybe it’s reading that new relationship, maybe going to a dating seminar or two, or even hiring a professional relationship. That way, not matter what happens to Facebook or anywhere else in dating, you will be ready to accept the challenge. The choice is yours!
