Why online dating can be better than meeting someone at the bar!

Sometimes couples are so afraid to admit they met they online. My husband included! He told his friends that we met at restaurant, which was true because we had our first date there but we actually met online! I guess my point is….if you found an avenue that allows you to meet someone that you could have never met at a bar or through friends, why is it so embarrassing? Sometimes making yourself uncomfortable by trying new things allows you to grow as a person. Of course, all of us would like to stay in our comfort zone. But if you don’t allow yourself to try something new, you can’t complain if nothing changes. What is the definition of crazy again?

Dating can be  tough, especially if your friends have no great prospects for you. Especially if you rely on the bar and club scene, or you just don’t go out anymore. How the heck are you going to meet anyone of quality?

Well there is a possible solution, you may have a better chance of meeting someone online. Meeting someone online allows you to know them outside the bar scene. When alcohol is involved it is hard not to have fun with the person sitting across from you. Mr. Wrong all of a sudden looks like Mr. Right. We have all heard of the term “Beer Goggles”, well I’m going to coin the term “Relationship Goggles.” All of a sudden you both have so much in common and end up at his place, he talks about the future with you and plans places you will go, then he never calls you the next day. Well yup you fell for it hard!

The advantage to online dating is that you have the ability to slow the process down. Don’t rush to meet someone right away until after you feel there is a connection. Life is just to short to waste with people that were incompatible from the start. How can you decipher between someone playing the field or truly looking for something more serious? Well when someone responds to your profile do they fully read your profile and send you emails that mention details from your profile? This is a good indication that someone took time to get to know you. If you get the emails that say just a simple “Hey whats up?” I would not take that person seriously. We both know he didn’t really take the energy to read your profile. By the way he may have copied and pasted that same line to 50 other girls in the hour to increase his odds!

I also get the question, when is okay to talk on the phone with someone from the dating site? It all depends on the situation, I really feel it is about the correspondence through email. How interesting do you find this person and do you feel they are someone you connect enough to go on a date? If you can answer yes, then I say you should begin talking on the phone. This is where you really can get to know someone, their voice, they personality, and how you bond. Of course if there is a connection, then the next step is a date!

The #1 sign of an emotionally mature partner 💛

I’ll be honest, I used to think attraction started from charm, big promises, grand gestures.  I thought that’s what a great partner looked like. It wasn’t. 🙋‍♀️

Here’s the real sign that tells you so much about how someone will love you.

In this interview with VICE I share the 4 questions I believe every person should ask themselves before getting married. Swipe 👈 to read the article!

One of them is about something most couples never talk about until it’s too late. Another has to do with what your body is already telling you about your relationship. 👀

Thank you to Sammi Caramela and VICE for helping share this conversation. If you’re engaged, thinking about it, or just curious whether you’re with your person, this one’s for you.
