5 Tips on How to Stop Attracting Narcissists: Advice for Empaths

Do you have a difficult time saying no to people? Do you feel like you’re constantly giving more of yourself than you have to offer? If so, there’s a good chance that you’re attracting narcissists into your life.

Narcissists are attracted to empaths because they sense that they receive what they need (which is usually attention and validation). I will discuss five tips on how to stop attracting narcissists and protect yourself from their toxicity.

Tip # 1 – Make Sure that Your Needs Are Being Met

Narcissists are attracted to people they sense will give them what they need, usually attention and validation.

It can be tough to break away from a narcissist’s grip, but it is possible. Remember that you deserve to be treated with respect and kindness. If you can focus on meeting your own needs, you will become less attractive to narcissists, and eventually, they will move on to someone else who will give them the attention they need.

Tip # 2 – Set Boundaries with People

It’s important to know your limits and stick to them. If someone is crossing your boundaries, don’t be afraid to speak up or walk away from the situation. It can be hard to set boundaries with people, especially if we care about them or want their approval.

Learning how to set boundaries will help you protect your well-being, both in the short-term and long-term. A great way is to start practicing in your daily life right now.

If you are used to saying yes all the time, learn how to tap into your intuition.

Before saying yes, check in and ask yourself, is this something I really want to do? If the answer is NO, then honor yourself and say NO! It will be uncomfortable at first to disappoint people, but you will be honoring yourself in the end.

Tip # 3 – Be Assertive

Narcissists are attracted to people whom they can control or manipulate. By being assertive, you’ll be less attractive to narcissists because they can’t feed off your supply.

It’s important to be yourself and stay true to your values, even if that means you won’t attract every person out there.  In my Conscious Dating Programs, I help singles learn the process of being the chooser rather than the chaser of a relationship. They gain confidence by attracting a partner by being authentic and genuine self, which is the best way to find a long-lasting relationship with the right person.

Tip # 4 – Don’t Tolerate Bad Behavior.

If someone is treating you badly, don’t hesitate to call them out on it or walk away from the situation.

Bad behavior can take many forms, but it’s always wrong and should never be tolerated. Whether someone is being verbally abusive, physically aggressive, or just plain rude, you don’t have to put up with it. If you’re in a situation where someone is behaving badly, the best thing to do is call them out on it.

You might feel scared or uncomfortable, but speaking up will help send a message that this type of behavior isn’t acceptable. If the person doesn’t listen or tries to intimidate you further, walk away. It may not be easy, but you’ll be glad you did.

Tip # 5 – Protect your Energy.

Empaths are highly sensitive people and tend to absorb the energy around them. It is important to protect your energy. This means learning how to say no and recognizing when you need some time alone.

It also means being selective about the people you spend time with and the environments you choose to be in. You can do this by setting boundaries with negative or draining people, spending time in nature, and meditating regularly.

It’s also important to take care of yourself emotionally and physically. Make sure you get enough rest, eat a balanced diet, and exercise regularly. Empaths have a lot of love and compassion to give the world; let’s make sure you take care of yourself so that you can continue to shine brightly.

It’s important to remember that empaths all have the ability to attract narcissists into their lives, but by following these simple tips, you can protect yourself from their toxicity.
