5 Best Places to Find Love Offline

Approximately one-third of all couples today have met their current partner online. That’s a pretty big percentage, but you still have good odds of finding your forever relationship offline too. Does that mean you should stop online dating and just focus on more traditional dating? Of course not.

Smart singles know that good dating is about putting yourself out there wherever and whenever you can. Online and offline dating should both be part of a balanced dating diet. So to help you wet your dating appetite for finding love out in the world, here are the top 5 places to find love off-line.

Private Social Membership Organizations

There are numerous national organizations whose sole goal is to connect like-minded professionals like you. They are not necessarily for singles only, but national groups like Karma International and IVY are full of quality singles.

They have chapters in many major cities, so just find the one near you. In addition, to these national organizations, many cities have homegrown ones that can fill the bill.

In Las Vegas, I belong to a group called Fanfare which is sponsored by the Smith Center, a local arts and music theater. Both the national and local organizations tend to charge a monthly fee, but for that fee, you get to attend fun social events and give back too.

Sports or Museum Events

The great thing about things like a sporting or museum events is that people come to the event and stay to socialize. I know when I go to games it is as much about interacting with people as it is for the event and I am not alone.

Both are very low pressure ways to chat up someone else in the room as you already have one thing in common, striking up a conversation shouldn’t be hard. Bars and restaurants on the contrary make this much more conspicuous. In Los Angeles, I used to go to the Getty Center or LACMA weekend events that always had lots of singles.

The Dodger’s or Clipper’s games are also good places to mingle with singles. I recommend wearing your favorite team shirt (even if the home team is not your team) because it is a great conversation starter for you and other singles.

Volunteer Events

If you are a heart-centered person who likes to donate their time to causes to the less fortunate, what better way to meet like-minded singles like you than at a volunteer event. I recently volunteered for Green Our Planet and noticed there were a lot of heart-centered like minded people there (plenty of singles too).

As the group we went to a school and helped build an organic garden for school kids to learn how to grow their own plants and sell them at the farmers market.

Find a cause you believe in, research their website for the next volunteer event, and help out. It’s not only a great way to give back, it also expands your network of friends, and you could possibly find a love connection too. There are also charity fun-runs and volunteer galas you might also want to look into.

Join a League or a Take Class

Softball, Dodgeball, flag football all have co-ed leagues in most cities. The leagues are not only very social on the field for singles, but also often involve post game activity components that can be another great opportunity to engage fellow singles.

The same goes for taking that class you have always been interested in, but never took in school like oil painting, coed yoga, or Italian cooking. Seek out the ones that cater to singles by calling the host or organizer beforehand so you can make a connection and they can introduce you to the group. Plus, you’ll know the general makeup of the classes or teams.

Just Look Around You (Put Down the Phone)

When out on the world far too many singles make the mistake of rarely looking up from their phone or chatting up anyone but their friends and because of it they miss that possible date right in front of them.

You don’t have to be ready to jump up and ask out the man in line at Starbucks or next to you in the frozen food aisle, but by being aware of the people around you and open to brief moment of social interaction from someone, it could change your life. Think of it as brightening another person’s day.

Next time you are in line for coffee or at the grocery store, look over to the person next to you and ask them, “How’s your day going?”. And when it comes to finding true love, it only takes one moment to make a connection and a good first impression.

If you’re struggling with getting out of the house or need some help building the confidence to attend these type of events, I invite you to schedule some time to speak with me here. I’m here to help.
